Upstate pastor leads prayer vigil for victims of deadly school shooting in FL

TRAVELERS REST, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Residents in the Upstate are coming together to remember the victims of Wednesday's deadly school shooting in Florida.

Pastor Randy Smith of Hilltop Baptist Church is leading a prayer vigil on Sunday in downtown Travelers Rest. The prayer vigil will take place at the gazebo on Main Street at 3:30 p.m.

On February 14, a gunman entered Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida and opened fire. The attack left 17 students and staff members dead. Officials say it was the deadliest U.S. school shooting since 2012.

On Thursday, 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz confessed to being the shooter, per law enforcement.
