The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office has taken a suspect into custody with connection with a shooting that left one person dead and another injured.

Deputies said they responded to a call Sunday afternoon on Old Canaan Road around 3:30 p.m. A male victim was found with a gunshot wound inside the residence, deputies said.

The coroner identified the victim as 29-year-old Eric Morris.

According to the sheriff's office, a second shooting victim was later found at a nearby residence. Deputies said the second victim's injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

Deputies said 18-year-old Brian Cornelius Foster was arrested in connection with the case. Deputies said he was charged with murder, three counts of attempted murder and four counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

According to a background check, Foster has prior convictions for burglary and grand larceny.

A motive in the case remains under investigation.

In a press conference Tuesday, Sheriff Chuck Wright said Morris and Foster were friends.

Deputies said while they were on scene investigating the homicide, they heard a nearby commotion. As a result, four suspects were arrested and are accused of assaulting two witnesses in the homicide case. The suspects ranged in age from 17 to 20 years old.
