GREENWOOD, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenwood School District 50 said a middle school was placed on lockdown Monday and again Tuesday due to bomb threats.

According to the district, the threats were written on the wall of a boys bathroom at Westview Middle School.

Law enforcement and district officials were immediately contacted while the school was placed on lockdown Monday.

“School administration, once they actually saw the threat, immediately contacted law enforcement and district officials and then once that happened, they did a thorough search of the school," said Johnathan L. Graves, the Community Services Facilitator of Greenwood 50.

After a thorough search of the building, law enforcement declared Westview safe and the lockdown was lifted.

“In terms of the students you know whenever they see something we just encourage them to report it to school administration, teacher, parent whoever they feel comfortable reporting it to," said Graves. "We just want to make sure that they feel safe at school.”

After the second incident on Tuesday, the district said the building was again cleared and school resumed normal operations.

"We do not tolerate this type of behavior at our school,” Westview Principal Steve Glenn said. “The consequences for these types of actions are severe. We would encourage parents to stress to their children the seriousness of these threats. We are committed to providing a safe learning environment for all of our students and staff.”

On Thursday, district officials announced that a Westview student had been arrested and charged by law enforcement with disturbing schools and writing a threatening message, after an investigation into the incident.

District officials said that student will also be recommended for expulsion.
