SENECA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Oconee County Sheriff's Office said a man has been arrested in connection with a January shooting.

Deputies said 24-year-old Derrick Shaquille Dendy was arrested on an attempted murder charge. Dendy also had an outstanding warrant on a charge of possession of a weapon during commission of a violent crime as well as a magistrate's bench warrant, deputies said.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies responded to Redland Ranch Road on January 14 in reference to a shooting. Deputies said they found a victim who had suffered a gunshot wound to the hand and abdomen when they arrived on scene.

The sheriff's office said evidence gathered by the Criminal Investigations Division allowed arrest warrants against Dendy to be obtained.

Dendy remains in custody on a $120,000 surety bond.

Deputies said the Clemson Police Department has also placed a hold on Dendy.
