Seventeen-year-old Emma Arnold was just a child through the end of his crusades, but the teachings of Reverend Billy Graham are very much present in the lessons she's learned at Shannon Forest Christian School.

“Instead of getting tied down by very specific differences and just how he was able to reach so many people I think it created a great unity among the church and that's pretty unparalleled for one person to unite so many people in that way,” said Arnold.

When news spread of his passing Wednesday morning, Shannon Forest School Chaplain, Nate Muse, said he was overcome with mixed emotion.

“It's bittersweet to know that we've lost such a legend but also we're hopeful and we rejoice because we know where he is,” said Muse.

Like many worldwide, Muse said he views Graham’s legacy as unparalleled in the Christian world, an icon unlike any other.

“We see a life that was the same on the platform as it was in his home where he dwelled everyday, where he walked everyday. He was the same man and I think the reason that is, is because he lived his life according to the Gospel that never changes,” said Muse.

For Shannon Forest Bible Teacher, Daniel Pandolph, making sure future generations know that means teaching in his image to all people regardless of denomination.

“God does have a plan and a purpose for those who put their faith in Him and He desires to be with us in heaven, that was a central theme of Billy Graham's teaching and for me that's an important point i want to drive home to my students regardless of what background they come from,” said Pandolph.
