The Henderson County Sheriff's Office said a suspect in a fatal shooting has turned himself in.

According to deputies, the incident occurred on Holbert Road around 8:15 a.m. A male victim was transported to Mission Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The sheriff's office identified the victim as 28-year-old Tristan Kayne Edney of Hendersonville.

Deputies named 26-year-old Davonte Gray Redfern as the suspect in the shooting. Redfern fled the scene in a mid-2000s black Volkswagen Jetta with the North Carolina tag FBR4499, deputies said.

Redfern turned himself in at the Buncombe County Detention Center, deputies said.

The sheriff's office said he is now in the Henderson County Jail and is being held under a $500,00 bond.
