The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association has announced a series of memorial events for Rev. Graham. 

Saturday, Feb. 24

Motorcade

  • 11:25 a.m.: Motorcade departs Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove in Asheville, N.C.
  • 2:20 p.m.: Motorcade arrives in Charlotte, N.C.

Monday, Feb. 26-27 

Lie in Repose

  • 8:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m.: Rev. Graham will lie in repose in the Graham Family Homeplace on the Billy Graham Library grounds in Charlotte, N.C.
  • Public parking will be available at the Operation Christmas Child Processing Center in Charlotte, N.C.
  • Complimentary shuttle buses will continually to and from the lots and the Graham Family Homeplace in Charlotte, N.C.

Feb. 28-March 1

Lie in Honor

Rev. Graham will lie in honor in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda in Washington, D.C.

Mar. 1

Body of Rev. Billy Graham returns to Charlotte, N.C.

Mar. 2

Private funeral service 

Private funeral service will be held for Rev. Graham. He will be buried in the Prayer Garden at the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, N.C.

The service will take place in a 28,000 sq ft tent, and was planned by Graham himself. More than 2,000 people will be in attendance, including international delegates from at least 50 countries.

Billy Graham Parkway will be closed from Tyvola and Tryon Streets, starting at 12. a.m. Mar. 2 and will not reopen until around 3 p.m. Secret Service and local law enforcement will determine what time the Parkway will reopen.

The service is expected to last 82 minutes and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., a period of quite will be observed throughout the campus. The campus will close at midnight Friday.

About 200 family members will be at the graveside funeral.

The campus will reopen at 7 a.m. Wednesday, March 7 to the public.
