WILLIAMSTON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Firefighters were called to the scene of a fire that destroyed an Anderson County home early Friday morning.

Anderson County dispatchers said the fire was reported on East First Street just before 2 a.m.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene including Williamston City, Belton City, Honea Path City, Cheddar and West Pelzer fire departments. Arson investigators were also called to the scene.

No one was injured in the fire, although the residence was destroyed.

Colt and Heather Poore

Colt and Heather Poore told a FOX Carolina crew that their dog, a pit bull named Tiger, alerted them to the fire and they were all able to make it out safely.

"Tiger started biting me and everything," Colt Poore said. "And I woke up and everything was on fire around me."

The couple said by the time they were able to get outside, the home was destroyed.

"He saved my life," Colt Poore said, holding Tiger on his shoulders.

Colt said he rescued Tiger as a puppy and that he is like their son.

The Red Cross is assisting the family in the aftermath.
