Deputies investigating after suspicious package located in Anderson Co.

ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies with the Anderson County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a suspicious package in the roadway early Saturday morning.

Per deputies, the Sheriff's Office received a call before 2 a.m. that a suspicious package was spotted at the intersection of Travis Road and Little Mountain Road in Anderson Co.

The bomb squad responded to the scene to investigate and render safe the package for further investigation.

At this time, the contents of the package have not been disclosed.

The Sheriff's Office released the following statement about the rash of suspicious packages in the county:

Since late January 2018, the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, Federal Bureau of Investigations and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms have been investigating instances of suspicious and dangerous packages being found on or alongside roads in Anderson County.  While progress has been made in this investigation, the public is asked to be attentive as they travel through Anderson County and report any information which might be helpful to the investigation.  If a suspicious package is found, the public should not approach or otherwise investigate the package, but should immediately call 911 to report it. 

In addition, anyone with information about who is responsible for making and or placing these packages, please call the FBI at 1-800-CALL FBI (1-800-225-5324).
