Deputies: Spartanburg Co. man tried to stab woman before chase

SPARTANBURG COUNTY (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies detained an attempted murder suspect on Saturday after a chase in Spartanburg County. 

Deputies said they were responding to a disturbance with weapons at 340 Goodjoin Rd. when dispatched advised that the suspect had left the scene on a moped. At the scene, the victim had suffered a one inch laceration on her head covered in blood and an appeared broken nose.

The incident report states that the suspect, 47-year-old Gary Cleveland Anders is accused of trying to stab the victim and hitting her with a metal pipe.

While on Highway 357, deputies spotted the suspect and began to follow him. According to the incident report, Anders did not stop at first, after several times being told to pull over. 

Once Anders stopped, he was detained and deputies took custody over him. He was then transported to the county jail and charged with attempted murder.
