GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville County deputies said one man is dead and another is facing a murder charge after an argument between the roommates turned violent Monday night.

Deputies said they responded to the 300 block of Inez Lane in reference to a gunshot victim at approximately 8:30 p.m.

When investigators arrived on scene they located a male who suffered from at least one gunshot wound.

Deputies said they later learned that the victim had been stabbed prior to being shot.

The coroner identified the victim as 49-year-old William Clayton McKinnedy, who lived at the address where the shooting occurred. An autopsy will be performed to help determine a cause of death but the coroner said the manner of death was homicide.

Deputies said the shooting stemmed from an argument between McKinnedy and his roommate, Alim Muhammad Banks.

Banks was arrested and charged with murder and possession of a weapon with a violent crime, deputies said Tuesday.

A judge was not able to set a bond during a hearing Tuesday morning. Banks is being held in the Spartanburg County Detention Center awaiting his next court date.
