Deputies: Anderson teen charged after sending Snapchat threat to 'shoot up the school'

ABBEVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Abbeville County Sheriff's Office as a 15-year-old is charged after a threatening message was sent via Snapchat.

According to deputies, on Feb. 22 they were notified an Abbeville High School student had received a message on Snapchat from an unknown person threatening to "shoot up the school."

Deputies said after an investigation, they determined a 15-year-old from Anderson had sent the message. A juvenile petition was signed charging the teen with disturbing schools.

The teen's name has not been released due to age.

"We will exhaust all means necessary in locating an charging anyone who threatens to do harm to any school, student or teacher here in Abbeville County," said Sheriff Ray Watson.
