MARIETTA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Greenville County Sheriff's Office said a former employee of an Upstate horse stable is charged in the abuse of a child.

Deputies said they launched an investigation in December 2017 involving a former instructor at Dogwood Terrace Stables in Marietta.

According to investigators, while 53-year-old Daniel Luther Pierce was employed as an instructor at the stables, he inappropriately touched a student.

During the investigation, deputies said they learned of another, similar case involving a victim who was victimized by Pierce multiple times between August 2007 and August 2013.

Pierce was arrested on Tuesday and booked into the Greenville County Detention Center on three counts of committing a lewd act upon a child under 16 and second-degree assault and battery.

His bond was set at $20,000.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 23-CRIME.
