MOORE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg County School District 6 said law enforcement is investigating a bomb threat against a middle school on Thursday.

The district said the front office at Dawkins Middle School received a call around 1:27 p.m., and the caller hung up. In a subsequent call, the district said the caller stated that a bomb would go off at 1:30 p.m.

The school immediately contacted law enforcement and followed their directions regarding the safety of students.

Investigators are looking into the threat.

"Again we encourage you to speak with your children about the seriousness of making threats," the district said in a message to parents. "We take every threat seriously and will prosecute the fullest extent of the law."

Dawkins Middle dismissed at regular time.
