Coroner identifies Upstate man killed after struck by pickup truck; child and woman injured

The coroner confirms an Upstate man is dead following a collision in Greenville County Friday morning.

Per the coroner, the collision took place on Geer Highway at the intersection for Tugaloo Road around 8:30 a.m.

Troopers say a driver in a pickup truck was traveling west on Geer Hwy when the male driver in a the other vehicle was traveling east on Geer Hwy and ran off the right side of the road, struck the curve, over corrected and crossed the center line. The male driver was then struck by the driver in the pickup truck, troopers confirm.

The driver in the pickup truck was injured and transported via EMS to the hospital. The 5-year-old passenger in the truck was also injured and transported to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown.

The male driver in the other vehicle who was struck, was entrapped in the vehicle and had to be mechanically extracted, troopers confirm. The 22-year-old driver from Greenville succumbed to injuries sustained in the collision on scene.

The coroner identified the decedent as Charles Raekwon Guzman Jr. of Taylors. His cause of death was blunt force trauma. The crash was ruled an accident.

The collision is under investigation by the SC Highway Patrol and Greenville County Coroner's Office.
