GREENWOOD, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The former Index-Journal CEO was arrested and charged Friday morning after police say it was discovered that he defrauded the company of over $10,000.

Per the arrest warrant, 61-year-old Edward William Gunderson of Greenwood, while acting in the capacity of chief executive officer, deposited digital media payments owed to the Index-Journal, into bank accounts not belonging to the Index-Journal. The total amount of the defrauded money was over $10,000, the arrest warrant states.

Police say the crime occurred between December 2016 and August 2017.

Police said Gunderson "did give a voluntary statement implicating himself in this unlawful act".

He was charged with breach of trust with fraudulent intent - $10,000 or more.
