Deputies find drugs, cash while serving arrest warrant for man in Rutherford Co.

MOORESVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies said a man was charged after drugs and drug paraphernalia were found in his possession while serving an arrest warrant.

Officials with Rutherford County Sheriff's Office said their Criminal Interdiction Team, Narcotics Division and Road Patrol Division responded to the 2500 block of Ferry Road to serve an arrest warrant on Douglas Wade Melton.

Upon arrival, deputies said they made contact with Melton, who was in the parking lot.

As Melton was arrested for the warrant, a loaded .25 caliber pistol was found in his pocket.

Deputies said a search of his vehicle revealed nearly 4 lbs of marijuana, 128.7 grams of hashish, 25.5 grams of rosintech wax which is a derivative of marijuana and $2,322.00 all of which was seized.

Deputies said the vehicle and several items of drug paraphernalia were seized as well.

Melton was charged and placed in the custody of Rutherford County Jail under a $100,000.00 secured bond.
