Troopers: Passenger arrested, driver on the run after early morning chase ends in crash in Greenville

Posted: Updated:

SC Highway Patrol Troopers confirm one person was arrested after a chase that ended in a wreck in the city of Greenville early Saturday morning.

Troopers say at about 12:25 a.m. they attempted to stop a car with an altered temporary tag. The driver of the vehicle did not stop and a chase began on West Faris Road, they said.

About a minute later, troopers say the driver crashed the vehicle on West Faris Road at Aberdeen Road. The driver then fled on foot and investigators were unable to track the driver down. The passenger in the vehicle, however, was apprehended and charged with open container.

Investigators are still actively searching for the driver. No further details could be released as the investigation is ongoing.
