ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Firefighters with Anderson City rescued a resident from a burning building Sunday morning.

The blaze started in a home located on Cleveland Avenue. The call came in at about 10 a.m.

Firefighters conducted a search of the home and were able to locate five residents. Four of those residents were able to get out by themselves. The 5th resident had to be rescued and was transported to AnMed with smoke inhalation and superficial burns, officials said.

Officials say the fire appears to have been started by a space heater inside a bedroom area that was too close to a combustible material. They said the house did not have any smoke detectors.

Firefighters say the fire was out in five minutes and contained within 15 minutes.

The home was deemed a total loss.
