ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies with the Anderson County Sheriff's Office, along with SLED agents, assisted the Georgia Bureau of Investigation with apprehending a fugitive wanted out of Hart County on Monday

Per deputies, the suspect was taken from the Carolina Inn on Murray Avenue in Anderson without incident.

Investigators say a deputy received minor injuries, but was treated and is doing fine The injuries were not on behalf of the suspect. They were bumps and scraped sustained in the process of apprehending the suspect.

On Tuesday, Hart County Sheriff Mike Cleveland confirmed Tyrus Clark was the suspect arrested in Anderson County.

Warrants were filed charging Clark with murder after the death of 43-year-old Marilyn Patrice Rucker Clark.  Cleveland said Marilyn Clark was found dead on Eagle Grove School Road on March 2 after suffering a gunshot wound.

She was a mother of three children.

FOX Carolina spoke with one of Clark's friends who said she was a pleasure to work with.

"Marilyn was the best co-worker, the type of person that loves to make people laugh - and we always did that," said Lisa Green. "She was such a caring CNA for all of her residents."

According to Cleveland, Clark and the victim were legally married. There was no history of reported violence, but Cleveland said investigators are now learning they had a troubled marriage.

Friday morning around 8:30 a.m. is when deputies got a call that something suspicious was going on at their home. Deputies say Clark had carried his wife's body about 40 yards from the highway and tried to conceal the body.

When deputies responded they were able to locate the body, but by that time Clark had disappeared.

On Monday, Anderson County deputies said they were notified by SLED that Clark's burgundy F-150 may have been spotted in Anderson. When they located the vehicle, they learned Clark had checked into a room at the Carolina Inn.

He was then apprehended.

Clark is being held at the Anderson County Detention Center awaiting extradition. In a hearing on Tuesday, he agreed to be picked up by Georgia law enforcement.

He was charged with the following:

  • felony murder
  • murder with malice
  • aggravated assault
  • possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime
  • concealing a body
