LIBERTY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The votes are in for the City of Liberty Ward 4 Special Election to fill a city council seat - and there is going to be a runoff election.

Votes were cast on Tuesday to fill a vacant seat on the Liberty City Council Ward 4. The two write-in candidates, Charles R. Beaver and Archie Newberry Jr., were a close match and neither obtained majority of the vote.

Unofficial results reveal Beaver secured 45.7 percent of the vote and Newberry secured 49.5 percent of the vote.

Due to the closeness of the vote, a runoff election has been scheduled for March 20.

All results are unofficial and are subject to change until certified by the board.
