GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Greer community came together on Friday to rally behind a teen girl who is fighting for her life.

16-year-old Cheyenne Vandergrift, a junior at Greer High School, is facing heart failure, kidney failure and a host of other complications after coming down with the flu in February.

A group united at Greer Christian Learning Center Friday morning, from 7:45 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. to lift the teen up in prayer as she prepared to undergo procedures to help stabilize her condition. Many have been using the hashtag #ShineOnChey in support.

Supporters were also asked to take and post photos of themselves wearing their Shine on Chey t-shirts and/or bracelets as encouragement for Cheyenne and her family.

Cheyenne's mother, Tina Vandergrift, has been openly vocal on her personal Facebook page about the teen's progress - both her ups and downs.

On Thursday, Tina said Cheyenne suffered a setback, and on Friday, Tina shared that Cheyenne had to undergo more procedures at MUSC where she's been receiving treatment in Charleston.

Tina said Cheyenne's lung procedure went well and that the amount of heart medications she'd been on had been reduced from 10 to 5.

A fundraiser will be held for Cheyenne on March 13, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Smokehouse 29 on Wade Hampton Blvd in Taylors, as well. Click HERE to learn more about it.
