NEWBERRY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies say they've safely located a 12-year-old that was missing out of Newberry County.

Officials with Newberry County Sheriff's Office said Jamaraics Kentrell Cannon of James Street in Newberry left Newberry Middle School's gym after AAU basketball practice around 5:26 p.m. Friday.

Deputies said he was heading down O'Neal Street.

Cannon is described as 5'10" tall and was last seen wearing a grey t-shirt and black basketball shorts with black and white basketball shoes.

Police said they were going around to some of his friends' homes to see if they've seen Cannon.

Police say they'd also spoken to other people who had seen him since Friday evening, and they didn't believe there was anything suspicious about his disappearance.

At 6:54 p.m., deputies announced that Cannon had been found safe. They said after a message was sent out by the School District of Newberry and the Sheriff's Office, a parent of a classmate contacted law enforcement and said Cannon was at her home.

An off-duty School Resource Office went to the address and found the child.
