HENDERSONVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Henderson County Deputies say a former high school student was arrested after he was located on campus with over 23 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a pistol.

Deputies arrested Christopher Brown, 17 of Hendersonville, on the following charges:

  • one felony count of possession of a weapon on an educational property
  • possession of more than 1/2 ounce of marijuana
  • possession of drug paraphernalia
  • one misdemeanor count of failure to appear for possession of a weapon on an educational property from last year

Officials say at approximately 2 p.m. on Tuesday, the school resource officer located Brown in his vehicle on the West Henderson High School campus. The resource officer immediately detected the smell of marijuana while talking with the former student.

Last year, Brown was charged for having a BB pistol in his backpack at the Balfour educational campus and had failed to appear in court, deputies said.

Brown remains in the Henderson County Jail under a $6,500 secured bond.
