BURNSVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

The Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office said deputies are investigating a shooting that claimed a man’s life Monday Night in the Buladean community.

Deputies said they were called to an address on Odoms Chapel Road around 10:30 p.m. and found the victim at the scene.

The victim’s name has not yet been released but deputies said it was a male in his late twenties.

Investigators identified a suspect in the killing as 42-year-old Demetrius Bolden of Kingsport. He was arrested on Tuesday and charged with being a fugitive from justice. They said he was arrested after the Johnson City Police Department received information that Bolden was wanted for a homicide that occurred in Mitchell County.

Investigators were able to locate Bolden and perform a traffic stop. He was arrested without incident and transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is being held without bond. He will appear before a judge Wednesday at 9 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing.
