Greenville native Brandon P Brown has announced his candidacy for the U.S House 4th Congressional District. 

Brown is the former Senior Vice President of of the Institutional Advancement at Paine College where he graduated with a BA in history. He also has a master's degree in human resources development.

In Greenville he founded the Historical Black College and University Sports Classic which has contributed more than $200,000 to institutions across the Southeast. 

In 2004 Brown became the first African-American to run for a seat in the U.S congress from South Carolina's Fourth Congressional District.  In 2006 he served as State Deputy Political Director for Senator Joe Biden's presidential campaign. 

Brown is active in a variety of social and civic organizations in Georgia and South Carolina. 

Brandon is married.
