GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Greenville woman’s dream of creating a mobile laundromat to serve the homeless and low-income communities in the Upstate has come true, with a little help from TV star Mike Rowe.

Rowe, of “Dirty Jobs” fame, surprised Adahlia Nix on the latest episode of his Facebook Watch series, Returning the Favor, which premiered Monday night.

In the show, Nix told Rowe about meeting a homeless woman named Frankie when she worked in a thrift shop and learning that the woman was buying a new set of clothes each week because it was cheaper than using a laundromat.

According to her website, this led Nix to launch For Frankie, a free laundry service for the homeless, elderly, and others who cannot afford it.

Her goal was to eventually create a mobile laundry service to visit low income areas and homeless camps in the area, inspired by a similar service called Orange Sky in Australia.

Rowe and his crew from Returning the Favor learned about Frankie and were able to team up with the creator of Orange Sky and a food truck builder from Texas to build Nix her own laundromat on wheels.
