GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office said the public is encouraged to sign up for free active shooter training from Greenville County Emergency Management Division.

GCEMD is hosting the free training on May 7 from 9 a.m. to noon at Redemption Church, located at 635 Haywood Road.

“This is a great opportunity for our community to learn more about critical thinking skills during an encounter, how to save lives of others and recognize or mitigate possible threats,” said Sgt. Jimmy Bolt with the sheriff’s office.

Bolt said people must register by April 30 by visiting www.gceoc.com/active-shooter.php.
