A Spartanburg teen was sentenced on Wednesday in connection with a crime spree in the city, announced the office of Solicitor Barry Barnette.

Barnette said 17-year-old Eric Jordan Harper pleaded guilty to armed robbery, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, shoplifting, two counts of third-degree burglary, two counts of petty larceny and resisting arrest with assault.

According to a press release from Barnett'e office, the crime spree began July 21, 2018 when a shoplifting was reported at All Stars Gold and Pawn on John B. White Sr. Blvd. That same business was burglarized July 23 and 26 and city police used video surveillance to connect Harper to the crimes.

Around 10 a.m. on August 6, 2017, Barnette said Harper used a BB gun to rob a woman at the SC Credit Union on Camelot Drive, escaping with the woman's purse and $100 in cash.

The press release said Harper briefly fought with an officer who spotted him after that robbery fleeing toward the Dorman Centre shopping center. Harper was later arrested by a team of city officers and sheriff's deputies in the parking lot of Home Depot, and the BB gun used during the robbery was recovered along with $122 in cash.

Barnette said Circuit Judge Derham Cole issued a 30-year prison sentence suspended to 15 years on the armed robbery charge, weapon charge and property crimes. Cole issued a consecutive 10-year sentence suspended to 5 years probation on the resisting arrest charge.

Harper is required to serve 85% of the 15-year prison sentence before becoming eligible for release.
