ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Anderson police and Anderson County deputies are investigating a shooting incident that took place outside a motel on Thursday.

Police said they were called to the Super 8 Motel on Cinema Avenue around 11 a.m.

Anderson County deputies said they were called to assist after reports of shots fired.

Deputies said the incident may have began as an attempted armed robbery and resulted in gunfire.

The investigation was still in its early stages just after noon on Thursday.

Deputies said multiple people were detained and transported to the sheriff's office. One of the people, a woman, had outstanding warrants from another agency.

A good Samaritan working at the car wash next to the motel said he saw the shooter flee and gave chase. He said he directed arriving officers to a beauty supply store where he had seen the suspect enter.

Deputies confirmed one of the people taken into custody was detained at another location near the motel.

No one was hurt.

No other details were immediately available.
