SC-based company issues voluntary recall for canned spinach

The South Carolina-based company McCall Farms has issued a voluntary recall of Happy Harvest Canned Spinach due to potential undeclared peanut allergen from product mislabeling.

The recall affects Happy Harvest Spinach in 13.5 ounce cans with an expiration date of January 2021. 

According to the FDA, the product was sold exclusively at ALDI stores. 

The product was available for sale in the following states: 

  • Florida 
  • Georgia 
  • Iowa 
  • Illinois 
  • Indiana 
  • Kentucky 
  • Michigan 
  • Minnesota 
  • North Carolina 
  • Ohio 
  • South Carolina 
  • South Dakota 
  • Tennessee 
  • Virginia 
  • Wisconsin 
  • West Virginia 

Happy Harvest Spinach was also available to ALDI customers in Atlanta and Chicago through the grocery delivery service Instacart. 

No illnesses related to the product have been reported.
