The Oconee County Sheriff's Office said a Seneca man has been arrested after a two-month-old suffered multiple injuries.

Deputies said 34-year-old Nicolas James Underwood was arrested on Thursday and charged with child abuse inflicting great bodily injury.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies responded to a home in Seneca regarding reports of possible child abuse. Deputies said an examination revealed a two-month-old suffered injuries to the upper torso and head.

The child was admitted to the hospital for further treatment and has not been released, the sheriff's office said.
