Coroner asks public to increase awareness on roads as traffic fatalities increase in Spartanburg Co.

SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger is asking the public to increase their awareness on roads as traffic fatalities increase. 

According to Clevenger, there have been 21 traffic fatalities in the county as of this week. He said this time last year, the county had experienced 11 traffic-related deaths. 

Clevenger is asking that drivers slow down, decrease distractions, wear their seatbelts and keep their eyes on teh road. 

"Law enforcement and my office will be here to serve regardless of the outcome. I would like to spare as many people the grief and heartache of the loss of a loved one or friend as possible," he said.
