FD: Liberty structure fire caused by heater left on in building

LIBERTY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Officials with Liberty Fire Department said a heater left on caused a fire at a building on Friday.

The incident happened around 3:39 p.m.

Firefighters said they were on scene for about 2 hours, and no injuries were reported.

The building was unoccupied during the fire.

Firefighters said the buildings involved in the fire were connected, sharing an attic area, but consisting of separate units.

Fire officials said Tony's Pizza employees noticed smoke coming into their restaurant so they evacuated and saw more smoke in the buildings next to them and called it in.

The buildings sustained some damage to the rear of the building where the fire started.

Fire officials said Knights Custom Graphics lost some inventory due to smoke damage.

Firefighters said the blaze started due to a heater being left on in the rear of one of the buildings.

Central and Easley Fire Departments also responded to the scene.
