Coroner identifies man dead after Spartanburg Co. crash involving motorcycle

SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Spartanburg County Coroner says he is currently responding to the scene of a crash.

The incident occurred at Asheville Highway and Springfield Road. 

Troopers said the crash happened around 6:17 p.m. 

Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger said troopers are investigating the motorcycle vs. vehicle crash at this time.

He identified the victim as 34-year-old Brian Patrick Amburgey of Windy River Road in Boiling Springs.

Clevenger said Amburgey was pronounced dead a the scene at 6:21 p.m.

Results from a toxicology report and autopsy are pending.

Troopers said Amburgey was traveling on a 2001 Kawasaki motorcycle west on US 176 heading towards Inman when he struck a 2013 International box truck pulling out of Ingles at 8650 Asheville Hwy.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation by the M.A.I.T. and SC Highway Patrol.
