GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Greenville County Sheriff's Office said a woman in need of transportation was sexually assaulted by the man who offered to give her a ride.

The assault was reported on Sunday.

Deputies said when 31-year-old Cedric Martynaye Dawson was giving the victim a ride home, he passed her house and pulled out a firearm. The victim was held at gunpoint and forced to perform sex acts, deputies said.

The abuse occurred several times at Dawson's residence on Duncan Chapel Road, the arrest warrant states.

The victim was later able to escape and call for help.

Deputies said they located Dawson in the parking lot of Court Ridge Apartments and he was taken into custody. He is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

The investigation is ongoing.
