PICKENS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Department of Health and Environmental Control said four people were exposed to rabies by a goat in the Upstate.

A young goat in the southwestern part of Pickens County tested positive for rabies after officials said it began exhibiting odd behavior and increased salivation. The goat was euthanized before testing on Apr. 27.

Four individuals providing care to the goat have been referred to healthcare providers.

There is no approved rabies vaccine for goats.

The goat is the second animal to test positive for rabies in Pickens County this year.
