LENOIR, NC (FOX Carolina) -

The Lenior Police Department arrested a man accused of filing a false police report and other later revealed crimes involving stolen police gear and theft of motor vehicles.

In April, police responded to a 911 call they received at an apartment complex in Lenior. Once officers arrived, all that was located was a 2012 Nissan Altima that had been reported stolen out of Rutherford County.

According to police, they found Preston Green in the area. Later, after further investigation, he was taken into custody for possession of a stolen motor vehicle, misuse of 911 system, and filing a false report to a police station.

The investigation continued after the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office received multiple reports of breaking and entering into motor vehicles, according to detectives.

Detectives said they later located a Honda four wheeler in a wooded area, that Preston Green had been in possession of, off of Beams Mill Road. It was later determined by detectives that Green stole this vehicle out of Caldwell County and left it in the wooded area.

The investigation then lead Rutherford County Detectives to Greene's grandparent's home in Ellenboro, where Green had been staying for a short while.

According to detectives, they issued a search warrant at this location and located property belonging to victims who had reported their vehicles being broken into.

Investigators said they also located a Hudson Police Department jacket and bullet proof vest carrier that had been stolen from a Hudson Police Department patrol vehicle in Hudson.

Preston Green is currently in custody at the Caldwell County Detention Center under a $30,000 bond.

According to detectives, this investigation is still ongoing and additional charges will be forth coming.
