TOWNVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Eight fire departments were called to battle a fire in the Townville area Wednesday morning, according to Anderson County emergency dispatchers.

The fire was at a house along the 100 block of Rita Lane off Oakdale Road.

Assistant Chief Mark Bryant with the Townville Fire Department said they were called to the scene at 3:13 a.m.

Firefighters arrived to find the house fully involved.

One person and a dog made it out without injuries. Bryant said smoke alarms alerted the victim of the fire.

Bryant said Double Springs, Zion, Cross Roads, Fair Play, Friendship, Pendleton, and Oconee County fire departments assisted Townville, along with the Fork Rescue Squad. He said there were no fire hydrants in the area, so the additional tanker trucks were needed.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
