Asheville PD requests public's help in fatal 'possible hit-and-run' investigation from 2017

ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

The Asheville Police Department and Asheville- Buncombe Crime Stoppers Board are seeking assistance regarding an incident that happened in 2017.

The body of Ryan Michael Rast was found during the morning hours of Aug. 19, after police said they received a call about a person spotted under the interstate 40 overpass.

Asheville police said Rast was found unresponsive under the I-240 overpass between S. Tunnel Road and Crockett Avenue in Asheville, with "serious traumatic injuries." 

According to Asheville police officers, his death is still being investigated as a possible hit-and-run. 

The Asheville-Buncombe Crime Stoppers Board is re-releasing this information with the hope that anyone with information regarding this incident will come forward and provide it.
