COLUMBIA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

On Tuesday four fallen law enforcement officers were inducted into the SC Law Enforcement Hall of Fame, three of which were from the Upstate.

The Hall of Fame's purpose is defined "as a memorial to law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty and in recognition to the selfless dedication of all law enforcement officers in the day-to-day performance of their duties," according to the legislative act established in 1974.

This year, the following officers were inducted:

  • Master Police Officer Jason G. Harris, End of Watch: Apr. 13, 2017, Spartanburg Police Department
  • Master Deputy Devin P. Hodges, End of Watch: June 1, 2017, Anderson County Sheriff's Office
  • Trooper Daniel K. Rebman Jr., End of Watch: Oct. 24, 2017, South Carolina Highway Patrol
  • Corporal James "Eric" Chapman, End of Watch: Dec. 8, 2017, Johnston Police Department

"Our hearts go out to the families whose loved ones were honored at today's induction ceremony," said SCDPS Director Leroy Smith. "This occasion ensures that these four officers, who tragically lost their lives in the line-of-duty, will forever be remembered and honored for their service and sacrifice to the State of South Carolina."

There are now 375 officers who hold a place of honor in the Hall of Fame Memorial Room.
