Anderson Co. deputy passes away after 20-year battle with cancer

The Anderson County Sheriff's Office is mourning the loss of a deputy. 

In a Facebook post, the sheriff's office said Deputy Allen Hammond passed away after a 20-year battle with cancer. 

Deputy Hammond served in law enforcement for 25 years. He began his career with the Anderson City Police Department in 1994. 

"Allen will be dearly missed by all of us here at the Sheriff's Office. We will provide additional information regarding memorial services as it becomes available. In the meantime, please continue to prayer for his wife, Ms. Lauri, and the rest of the Hammond family," the sheriff's office said.
