From HOG Day to Hot Air Balloons: There are a lot of great events happening this weekend

There is a lot going on in the Upstate this weekend.

A full slate of events features service opportunities, recreation, family fun, and more.

Below is a list of area events.

FRIDAY

ANDERSON

The Great Anderson County Fair continues through May 13 at the Anderson Sports and Entertainment Center, located at 3027 MLK Jr. Blvd. Admission is $7 for ages 7 and up. Ride tickets are $1.25 each but discount bundles are also available. Free shows include a Paw Patrol Meet and Greet, K9s in Flight, Olympic Dream High Diving, Lady Houdini, Racing Pigs, Human Cannonball, and a Petting Zoo. Click here for additional details.

A Relay for Life to benefit the American Cancer Society will be held in Anderson County. The relay will be from 6 p.m. to midnight at the Anmed Health Cancer Center, located at 2000 E. Greenville Street in Anderson. Click here for additional details.

The Cancer Association of Anderson is hosting the Hot Air Affair to Rise Above Cancer, a new hot air balloon festival in Anderson. The festival will feature more than 22 balloons and will run from Friday to Sunday at Rocky River Plantation, 2000 East River Street in Anderson. Click here to learn more.

PICKENS

Blue Ridge Electric will host its annual fundraising festival, Blue Ridge Fest, Friday from 5:30 to 10 p.m. at at the cooperative's headquarters in downtown Pickens. Organizers said the festival will feature the largest classic car cruise-in and Beach Night show and dance event in the Upstate.  Admission is $20 in advance or $25 at the gate. Children ages 7-12 are admitted for $12 in advance or $15 at the gate.

GREER

The city of Greer will host its 34th annual Greer Family Fun Fest on Friday and Saturday. The festival will be held in Greer City Park. 90s rockers Vertical Horizon will hold a free concert in the park Saturday night. The band is best known for the song “Everything You Want.” The free concert begins at 8 p.m. on Saturday. Friday’s events will be from 6 to 10 p.m.

ABBEVILLE

The Abbeville South Carolina Spring Festival will be held through Saturday. It will feature live music, food, carnival rides and games, a car show, and more. Click here to learn more.

SATURDAY

GREENVILLE

United Way Hands On Greenville’s HOG Day, one of the largest day of service events in the area, returns Saturday. Thousands of volunteers will gather and complete more than 150 service projects around the Greenville area, including repair work, landscaping, painting and more. Click here to learn more.

Youth Interfaith will host the Interfaith Festival from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday on the Peace Center’s Graham Plaza. The festival will celebrate the traditions and culture of several religions, including Baha’i, Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, and Islam. Organizers said the goal is to start dialog and lead to better understanding of different faiths.

The TD Saturday Market returns from 8 a.m. to noon along Main Street in downtown Greenville. The weekly market features produce and food items from local farms and businesses, plants, crafts, and more.

10,000 yellow rubber ducks will race along the Reedy River in downtown Greenville on Saturday during the 14th annual Reedy River Duck Derby. Events begin at 10 a.m. in and around Falls Park. The race will begin at 2:30 p.m.

The March of Dimes’ annual March for Babies will begin at 5 p.m. at 945 South Main Street in Greenville.

ANDERSON

Timms Harley Davidson is hosting the 12th Annual Look Twice Save A Life Poker Run. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the dealership on Clemson Boulevard. The ride starts at Timms at 11 a.m. and will end at Sunset Grill.

GREER

The Greer Farmer’s Market will kick off on Saturday and continue each week through Nov 17. More 40 local vendors will have foods and more for sale from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

IVA

Danny Adams, a Christian rapper from Pickens said he will host Jesus Jam starting at 2:30 p.m. at the Iva Civic Center to promote his new songs.

SUNDAY

HENDERSONVILLE

The Four Seasons Rotary is hosting the “Zero K – All The Fun Without the Run” fundraiser for Alzheimer's Research from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Oskar Blues R.E.E.B. Ranch, 315 Shoals Fall Road. Click here for more details.

GREENVILLE

BAPS Charities Walk Green 2018 in Greenville is a Walkathon to benefit The Nature Conservancy and other charitable activities organized by BAPS Charities. The walk will begin at 11 a.m. in Cleveland Park. Registration opens at 10 a.m.
