FOUNTAIN INN, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Greenville County Sheriff's Office said it is currently investigating a string of car break-ins that occurred in a Fountain Inn subdivision.

Deputies said they were called to the Legacy Farms subdivision between 2:30 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. Friday morning. The incidents occurred on Windrow Lane and Legacy Farm drive.

According to the sheriff's office, they received the first report after a victim's purse was located in a ditch away from her residence.

Deputies said video surveillance showed a suspect wearing a hooded sweatshirt, gloves and something over their face walking onto the victim's property.

During the investigation, deputies discovered multiple victims throughout the neighborhood. Deputies said two firearms, a Smith and Wesson .380 Body Guard and and a black Hi-Point .380 semi-automatic, were taken.

According to deputies, the break-ins were a result of the vehicles being left unlocked. The sheriff's office is reminding citizens to lock their vehicles and houses and secure all valuables from unattended vehicles.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Greenville at 23-CRIME.
