CHEROKEE COUNTY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Troopers reported a fatal car crash in Cherokee County.

The incident occurred on Saturday around 6:25 a.m on Shelby Highway.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol there were two cars involved in the collision: a 2010 Honda and a Lincoln SUV.

The driver of the Honda was traveling north on Shelby Highway when the vehicle went across the center line and struck the Lincoln SUV head on, troopers said.

The driver of the Honda, a 23 year old from Gaffney, was killed at the scene. Troopers said the driver was entrapped and had to be mechanically extracted.

The coroner identified the victim as Joyce Rehannon Albright. She was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the coroner.

An autopsy will be performed at a later date.

The other driver, a 35 year old from NC, was injured and transported by helicopter to Spartanburg Regional Hospital, per troopers.

No charges were filed after the incident.
