Votes in for primary races in Western North Carolina

ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Voters across North Carolina helped narrow political races in statewide primary elections.

Congressional seats, State House seats, and local government positions were on the ballots Tuesday.

The Western North Carolina races included:

  • The Republican primary for US House District 10. Candidates are Jeff Gregory, Patrick McHenry (incumbent), Ira Roberts, Albert Lee Wiley, Jr., Seth Blankenship, and Gina Collias
  • Republican and Democratic primaries for US House District 11. Republican contenders are Mark Meadows (incumbent) and Chuck Archerd. Democrats in the race are Phillip G. Price, Steve Woodsmall, and D. Scott Donaldson.
  • Republican primary for NC House District 115. Candidates are Nathan West and Amy Evans.
  • Democratic primary for NC Senate District 47. Candidates are Christopher H. Rumfelt, Cheryl D. Swofford, and David Wheeler.
  • Republican primary for district attorney in District 42. Candidates are Greg Newman (incumbent) and Mary Ann Hollocker.
  • Republican primary for district attorney in District 41. Candidates are Ted Bell and Garland Franklin Byers, Jr.
  • Democratic primary for district attorney in District 40. Candidates are Ben Scales and Todd Williams (incumbent).

There were also some countywide primaries for the sheriff’s races in Buncombe, Graham, Henderson, Jackson, Polk, and Rutherford Counties.
