Heat cranks up late week, along with PM storm chances

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The weather pattern becomes summery toward the end of week. Rain chances will remain low, but each afternoon there is a chance for a pop-up shower or storm.

Mostly sunny today, with warmer than usual temperatures reaching 82 for the Upstate and 78 in the mountains. The day should be mostly dry, but a stray shower or t-storm is possible in the mountains.

Thursday will be more humid with a good chance for scattered PM showers and storms, starting in the mountains and eventually leaking into the Upstate. The Upstate heats up into the upper 80s, with low 80s in western NC.

Friday looks mostly dry ahead of a borderline hot, humid weekend. The better chances for afternoon storms will be in the mountains both days, but the Upstate will have a small chance of afternoon downpours as well. Aside from the rain, highs will certainly be in the mid to upper 80s...nearing 90 degrees in a few spots through Saturday and Sunday.
