The Greenville County Coroner's Office and Greenville County Sheriff's Office are investigating after they say a woman's body was found at the Amtrak station in Greenville.

The coroner said the woman was found deceased on the train tracks on West Washington Street around 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. She had been struck by a cargo train.

The coroner identified the victim as 57-year-old Ernestine Gina Dixon of Greenville.

Police say they received a call from train personnel at approximately 2:40 p.m. Shortly later, Dixon's body was discovered and pronounced deceased on scene.

The coroner ruled Dixon's manner of death as an accident. Her cause of death was listed as blunt force trauma to pelvis.

Friends and family of the victim said the want to see changes to make the area safer for walkers, including the installment of a pedestrian bridge.

"She and several others have frequently crossed trying to get to the other side," said Dixon's first cousin Melissa McCullough. "A lot of them cross it."
