Voters in the Boiling Springs and New Prospect fire districts rejected two separate referendums to raise taxes on Tuesday.

The referendums sought to raise the millage rate in both areas for the purpose of paying operational costs for the fire districts. This in turn, would raise annual property tax bills for homeowners.

Unofficial results reveal both referendums were rejected.

Per the unofficial results, over 77 percent of voters were opposed to the Boiling Springs Fire District referendum. Just over 22 percent were in favor.

Nearly 70 percent of voters were also opposed to the New Prospect Fire District referendum. Thirty-three percent were in favor.
