WESTMINSTER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Oconee County Sheriff's Office said six missing children have been located safe in Alabama and their mother has been brought back to the Upstate to face charges.

Deputies said 33-year-old Jennafer Machelle Price was supposed to turn over custody of her children to the Department of Social Services on Wednesday. Price and the children were missing when DSS arrived, the sheriff's office said.

According to the sheriff's office, Price has a history of narcotics abuse. They released a mugshot for her arrest in 2016.

Arrest warrants indicate she fled with the children from their home on Long Creek Highway in order to avoid the custody order.

Deputies said the children are safe and are in the custody of DSS in Alabama. DSS employees from South Carolina are heading to Alabama to take custody of the children, the sheriff's office said.

Price was taken into custody by authorities in Alabama. She has been charged with six counts of custodial interference, deputies said.

On Tuesday deputies said Price was picked up form the Autauga County Jail in Prattville, Alabama and transported back to the Oconee County Detention Center.

She is currently being held at the detention center on a $15,000 surety bond.
